FLORIDA KEYS FISHING
The Florida Keys has some of the most pressured and difficult fish that you will find anywhere. The bonefish, tarpon, and permit that swim the clear shallow waters surrounding the Florida Keys can be extremely picky. These fish require a high level of skill or either a huge amount of luck. Along with these fish, the Florida Keys also has a ton of other species that are much easier to fool with many types of baits. If you are coming to the Keys and have very little experience, and just want to have a good time on the water there are a ton of options. The best way to have a good fishing exoerience is to talk with your guide and tell him your abilities and expectations of your day on the water. Discuss this before making your booking not when you step on the boat! This will ensure that you have booked the correct guide and allow him to properly prepare for the day.
The best fish for all abilities, that is still a great gamefish is the redfish. The redfish can be found in large numbers throughout the upper keys and in many places in the lower keys. These fish are great fighters and make excellent targets on any tackle. While redfishing in the Florida bay area of the upper keys you will also have the chance of coming across snook which are a great catch for any angler. These areas also hold large numbers of trout that can usually be easily caught in large numbers. Another willing species in the keys is the snapper. these fish are hard fighters and are great tasting as well. For those wanting big fish, the many channels of the area hold large sharks and tarpon. This is a great way to spend the day and usually produces a variety of species that can be very large. The list of species is really lengthy including jacks, barracuda, bluefish, ladyfish, sawfish, grouper, and many more. So regardless of your skill level, there is alot of fun to be had on the water. My biggest tip would to be to find a guide that can put you on fish that you can catch at your skill level.
